The group performs mask dances depicting battles of famous heroes and scenes from Indian mythology as well as songs associated with village seasonal festivals, dances and love songs. The music is strongly rhythmic, energetic and exciting, played with traditional instruments from the region including the sahnai (conical oboe), cymbols, bells and a wide variety of drums. The accompanying booklet provides information about the background to the music and the instruments played.

Click Here This album presents a live concert by two highly renounded musicians of India, Ustad Sabri Khan (sarangi) and his son, Sarvar Sabri (tabla). The sarangi is a bowed stringed instrument which produces a beautiful, hauntingly plaintive sound. Extremely difficult to play as a virtuoso instrument, the sarangi has been neglected due to its low status compared with such instruments as the veena. This album presents two pieces: Raga Saugandh is an early afternoon raga with a sere, devotional and meditative mood. Thumri Mishra Kamaj is an early night raga whose mood expresses a feeling of contentment mixed with hope and desire. The accompanying booklet gives full details of the pieces together with information about the artists and their instruments.

He was introduced to music at the age of five and came to study under Uma Shanker Mishra, the famous disciple of Ravi Shankar. On this album Rash Behari Datta plays the very old and famous raga "Koushiki". As with all such classical Indian ragas, this is a spiritual piece of music in which the performer engages in a mediative improvisation set within the form of the raga. Click Here The veena is an Indian stringed instrument of great antiquity and status. It is refered to in the Vedic Hymns as "verily the embodiment of beauty and prosperity". Dr Mustafa Raza is a noted master of the veena. Born in Delhi, he comes from a famous family of instrument players and has played at the most prestigious classical festivals of India. Here he is accompanied by the renounded tabla player, Sarvar Sabri. Together, with consumate skill and great virtuosity, they present the beautiful and hypnotic Raag "Ahiri". This is one of the rarest ragas of Indian classical music. Called "AHRAIMIN" in Persian which means "the Rising Sun", in India the raga became "AHIRI". It is always played during the morning session of the day. Writen references to the raga go back to the 13th century.
