Nyingma Lineage
Advice from the Lotus Born - A Collection of Padmasambhava's Advice to the Dakini Yeshe Tsogyal and Others     £ 15.50
Add to basketBasket
This companion volume to Dakini Teachings is a wonderful collection of teachings by Padmasambhava as recorded by his chief female disciple, Yeshe Tsogyal. These were concealed as terma and revealed by Nyang Ral Nyima Oser and others for the benefit of future generations.
The profundity of this advice is meant to be personally applied by all individuals in all circumstances, as they belong to a style called martri, or direct instructions. Often such advice is imparted only to one disciple at a time. Padmasambhava's direct instructions condense the essential meaning of the tantras of mahayoga, the scriptures of anuyoga, and the pith instructions of atiyoga, or dzogchen.
"These teachings are the central advice of the collected words of Padmasambhava, the great nirmanakaya master. They are words from his heart, meant to be personally practiced. Please keep this in mind."Yeshe Tsogyal.
"Don't mistake mere words to be the meaning of the teachings. Mingle the practice with your own being and attain liberation from samsara right now."Padmasambhava.

Bolt of Lightening from the Blue - The Vast Commentary on Vajrakila     £ 25.00
Add to basketBasket
The original and most authoritative text on Vajrakila in Tibet. Included here are two short tantras of Vajrakila and a full translation of the most important commentary ever written on the subject of kila rites and their understanding for enlightenment.
Composed by Padmasambhava, Vimalamitra, and Silamanju, all evidence points to the fact that this remarkable text marks the very origin of the tantric cult Author: Martin Boord

of the wrathful deity Vajrakila. Compiled in Nepal more than twelve hundred years ago on the basis of all known kila lore, this is a work of rationalization in which the many convoluted strands of abstract Buddhist philosophy and tantric yoga were skilfully interwoven with the black magic practices of village sorcerers in order to produce a coherent whole that, upon its subsequent transmission to Tibet, was to become one of the most popular and enduring traditions of powerful religious mysticism.
Opening with an assembly of citations of Sanskrit sources that give an idea of the development of kila lore on the southern side of the great Himalayan divide, the book then moves on to the Tibetan texts that show just how this lore was received and understood upon its transmission to the north.

Counsels from My Heart - Dudjom Rinpoche     £ 10.99

Long-awaited teachings from the late head of the Nyingma school and one of the best known masters in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. This book features timeless teachings in a style that is direct and sharp, bringing this great teacher, who was known for not mincing his words, vividly to life.
Translated by the Padmakara group, this heartfelt advice from Dudjom Rinpoche encourages us to "get a grip on our minds" and follow the Buddha`s instructions which point the way to give up our habitual ways of behaving in order to liberate ourselves from suffering. He also offers advice on how to view the often misunderstood teachings on tantra and says that the most important point is to study the view of the Great Perfection, Dzogchen - which is essentially, that all phenomena are empty by nature. But this must not cause us to fall into the trap of acting on our own meager understanding.
"Like eagles soaring into space, we should be clearly convinced of the view, but at the same time we should heed the karmic principle of cause and effect...If you gain control over your mind, then even if you are at the point of death, you will understand that it is only because of a particular thought that there is an impression of dying - and that the nature of the mind is utterly beyond both birth and death. It would be excellent if you could gain this confidence. So keep this little, essential instruction in your heart. Conviction and confidence in this is what we call the Dharma." Dudjom Rinpoche.

Dakini Teachings
Add to basketBasket
Guru Rinpoche's oral teachings to his chief disciple and consort, Yeshe Tsogyal, presented here, were recorded in a coded language called dakini script and concealed until their revelation as terma centuries later. The selections in Dakini Teachings are short, direct instructions relating to the three levels of Buddhist practice: Hinayana, Mahayana and Vajrayana. The main emphasis of Padmasambhava's teaching is that spiritual knowledge must be personalized and not remain as mere theory. The book is based on the revealed termas of Nyang Ral Nyima Author(s) : Padmasambhava & Kunsang, Erik Pema

Oser and it includes an introductory discourse by Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche and a short biography of Padmasambhava by Jamgon Kongtrul.
"Descend with the view while ascending with the conduct. It is most essential to practice these two as a unity."Padmasambhava.
This statement of Guru Rinpoche is of crucial importance. If we start out by acting according to a high view, we will simply look crazy or insane. If we only keep the view of the lower vehicles we will never find the chance for liberation. The view of a shravaka or pratyekabuddha does not bring enlightenment in one lifetime but only after three incalculable aeons. One must act in accordance with the lower vehicles while keeping the view of the inner tantras." Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche.

The practice of guru yoga, merging with the mind of the master, lies at the heart of the Vajrayana Buddhist tradition of Tibet. Although the path can be traversed only by individual effort, the advice of an experienced spiritual guide is essential.
This particular guru yoga is called the Wish Fulfilling Jewel, and is the outer practice from the Longchen Nyingtik terma revealed by Rigdzin Jigme Lingpa. The hallmark of the guru yoga practice, in fact the very practice itself, is a lucid, pure and intelligent devotion. Through the power of devotion and the blessing of the master, a moment will come when a transformation takes place, in which the student recognizes the wisdom mind of the guru to be no different from his or her own mind, and boundless realization is born.
"Through the guru yoga practice, all obstacles can be removed and all blessings received, and through merging our mind with the mind of the guru and remaining in that state of inseperable union, the absolute nature will be realized. This is why we should always treasure guru yoga and keep it as our foremost practice."Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche.
