The ever-popular calendar from Wisdom Publications, comprising full-colour reproductions of paintings from the Indo-Tibetan thangka tradition, with detailed iconographic descriptions provided by Nathalie Bazin, curator of Paris' Musee Guimet.
These sacred paintings by Tibet's master painters represent a variety of classical images, deities, mandalas, and icons, which have been brought together from amongst the world`s finest thangkas from museums and private collections.
This year's calendar includes: Mahakala in his aspect as Yeshe Gonpo (Lord of Wisdom) on the cover, plus: the heavenly field of Buddha Amitabha, King Trisong Detsen, Ushnisha Sitatapala (long life goddess), the Buddha's miracles at Shravasti, Rahula, Wangdrag Pema - one of the eight manifestations of Padmasambhava, Padmasambhava in his aspect as Dorje Drolo, the appearance of Lama Tsong Khapa, Guru Dragmar - another manifestation of Padmasambhava, Mahasiddha Virupa, the Kagyu Lama Onpo Lama Rinpoche, and offerings to Mahakala.
