Dohas are songs and poetry that arise spontaneously from realised beings.
The following Doha was spoken by HH The 16th Gyalwa Karmapa.
Manifestation and sound Arise from the subtle Mental imprints Created by thoughts. Like a drawing in water Vanishes of itself, false appearances Also disappear automatically When their lack of reality Is understood. Being nothing beyond The Suchness, This is the Mahamudra view.
When the mind-door, Whereby all appearances manifest, Is left unobstructed, Unwarped by concepts, It is devoid of any solid reality; Vivid clarity, And whatever appears Is just left to happen naturally. Such practice is The Mahamudra meditation.
Illusory appearances Are born of the belief in reality. Supported by the constant Understanding of their unreality. One rests at ease Within the spontaneous, Original nature And the space Where nothing need be done Is entered effortlessly. This is the Mahamudra In practice.
These three points Are my heart's treasure. Since the yogis Who go to the heart of everything Are like my own heart, For them I speak these words From the heart, Which cannot be spoken To others.
